FAAN Reinstates Access Gate Fee Collection At Abuja Airport

On February 8, 2025, FAAN resumed access gate fee collection at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, after a two-week suspension due to road construction.

In a public notice shared on X (formerly Twitter), the Authority confirmed the return of the charges, restoring the usual entry process for travellers and motorists.

For two weeks, visitors to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja had enjoyed a rare convenience—free access at the airport gates.

FAAN temporarily suspended the usual access fees, giving travellers and drivers a brief respite from extra costs.

However, the relief did not last long.

Public Announcement

However, on Saturday, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) announced that the collection of access gate fees would resume from 8:30 am on February 8, 2025.

FAAN’s management signed the notice and shared it via the Authority’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, confirming the reinstatement of normal charges.

The suspension, which began on January 24, had been a temporary measure to ease the inconvenience caused by ongoing road construction at the airport.

But with work moving forward, FAAN decided it was time to bring back the charges, signalling a return to business as usual.

For frequent visitors and commercial drivers, the announcement meant adjusting once again to the extra expense.

While the free access had been a welcome relief, the return of the fees was a reminder that, at the airport, convenience often comes at a price.
