Elon Musk has proposed that he will quit his Chief Executive Officer (CEO) role at Twitter if he finds anybody who can buy the company from him.

Musk took over as the chief executive officer barely two months ago after acquiring the company to replace Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter.

The second richest man acquired Twitter, the microblogging and social networking service for $44 billion to take over ownership of the company.

On Monday, he held a Twitter poll to weigh the users’ opinions on the social media platform, asking “Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll.”

Over 17.5 million Twitter users voted, with 57.5 percent voting in favor of his resigning, while 42.5 percent supported said he should stay on as the chief executive. 

On Wednesday, Musk wrote that he would be stepping down from the CEO role in response to the votes. Although he stated that he will resign only after a replacement has been appointed.

“I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software & servers teams,” the billionaire said on Wednesday morning.

Musk has used his Twitter poll to make some decisions, such as reinstating the accounts of United States rapper, Kanye West, former United States President Donald Trump, and others banned by former Twitter management.
