Music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is preparing for a third appeal, with his attorney set to file for his release from prison, two weeks after his arrest.
According to court documents obtained by People on Monday, September 30, 2024, Combs’ lawyer, Alexandra Shapiro, filed a notice to appeal after the mogul was denied bail twice.
Authorities arrested Combs on September 16 at a Manhattan hotel.
The next day, prosecutors released a 14-page document outlining accusations against him.
They accused him of organizing events known as “freak offs,” which they described as elaborate sex performances.
Additionally, prosecutors accused him of drugging and sexually assaulting victims.
The court denied Diddy bail for a second time on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, so he remains in custody at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.
Magistrate Judge Robyn F. Tarnofsky cited concerns over Combs’ alleged substance abuse and anger issues, stating she did not trust him not to harm others.
“He is focused and very strong,” a lawyer for Combs told People. “He is concentrating on his defense and preparing for his trial.”
Combs’ next court appearance is scheduled for October 9.
