Frank Lampard has been announced as the new Coventry City boss, and fans are tearing apart the Chelsea legend’s lack of managerial success.
Coventry City have handed Lampard his first managerial job in 18 months as the Sky Blues announced their acquisition of the Chelsea legend for the vacant head coach role left by Mark Robins, who was sacked earlier this month after seven years in charge.
However, fans are unimpressed with Lampard’s appointment as the 46-year-old boasts a wholly mediocre managerial career so far, having managed Derby County, Everton and Chelsea, twice.
However, fans are now ‘praying’ for Coventry and fear they are set to endure a spell under a ‘shocking manager’.
What The Fans Are Saying

“The picture is literally him with a trophy from SOCCER AID, it’s his biggest achievement as a manager.”

@TheBurnleyWay responded to the announcement with: “Sorry to hear this lads.”
@ChrisSa60089815 said: “He needs to prove himself.
“At the moment I can’t see why this is an improvement on Robins.”
@Heppy_93 questioned on X: “How does Frank Lampard keep getting jobs?”
User @bobbyo83 said: “Odds on Lampard being sacked before the end of the season? A shocking ‘manager’.”
Chelsea fan @xy_Readone said: “Lampard will relegate that club I’m crying.”
Lampard’s career as a manager has failed to live up to the hype it had initially brought upon when he was hired as the Chelsea manager in 2019 after his above-average start at Derby County.
The Chelsea legend was shown the exit at Stamford Bridge in 2021 before being brought back as interim boss of the Blues despite having endured an abysmal spell at Everton.
In his career so far, Lampard has undertaken 196 matches but has only accrued 83 wins to his name.

However, the Chelsea legend will be eager to prove the doubters wrong at Coventry City.
He will begin his tenure with a clash against Cardiff City on Sunday, December 1.
