Over the last few months, Artificial Intelligence Chatbots have taken over the market with several new products.

It all started with Open AI’s ChatGPT; then to its Google rival Bard and yet another, recently launched GPT-4 version of ChatGPT.

In only a few weeks, ChatGPT had gained over a million users leading to the launch of its paid version.

However, in a recent development, Chinese technology giant Alibaba says it is launching a  similar product with more capacity.

Tongyi Qianwen

The ChatGPT-style product is called Tongyi Qianwen.

According to the cloud computing unit of Alibaba, the product will be used for Alibaba’s businesses.

Alibaba will integrate the chatbot across its businesses in the “near future” but did not give details on its timeline.

Tongyi Qianwen roughly translates as “seeking an answer by asking a thousand questions”, although Alibaba has not given an English version of the name.

“We are at a technological watershed moment driven by generative AI and cloud computing,” says Alibaba’s chairman and chief executive, Daniel Zhang.

Also, Tongyi Qianwen will perform several tasks including turning conversations in meetings into written notes.

It will also be able to write emails and draft business proposals, says the company.

Alibaba also says it will be integrated into Tmall Genie, which is similar to Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant smart speaker.

Can you picture what jobs could be lost to that machine? The future of jobs is shifting towards a tough direction.
