Cardi B Wins $1.2m In Defamation Case Against Tasha K

The long-standing legal battle between American rap superstar, Belcalis Almánzar, better known as Cardi B, and media personality Tasha K has taken a dramatic turn as a court-approved repayment plan has been finalised.

After years of legal wrangling, the rapper has secured a structured $1.2 million instalment agreement from Tasha K.

Cardi B Wins $1.2m In Defamation Case Against Tasha K

This ensures partial repayment of the $4 million defamation judgment.

A Costly Case Of Defamation

The controversy dates back to 2022 when Cardi B emerged victorious in a high-profile defamation lawsuit against Latasha Kebe, popularly known as Tasha K.

Also, the lawsuit stemmed from a series of damaging and false allegations made by the YouTuber.

She falsely accused Cardi B of having herpes, using cocaine, and engaging in prostitution.

The court ruled in favour of the rapper, awarding her a staggering $4 million in damages.

However, Tasha K struggled to fulfil the financial penalty, leading to her eventual bankruptcy filing.

This latest repayment agreement allows the embattled blogger to pay off $1.2 million over a structured five-year period.

A Partial Victory For Cardi B

While this settlement ensures that Cardi B will receive a significant portion of the judgment, it does not absolve Tasha K of her full financial obligation.

Cardi B retains the right to pursue the remaining balance after the five-year repayment period lapses.

Moreover, Tasha K has been legally bound to refrain from making “derogatory, disparaging, or defamatory” remarks about Cardi B or her family across all media platforms.

This includes her YouTube channel, social media pages, and podcasts.

However, the clause suggests that Cardi B may still hold the power to comment publicly on the case or Tasha K’s character without any legal repercussions.

Tasha K’s Downfall

Tasha K’s aggressive social media persona and penchant for controversy ultimately led to her downfall.

Following her courtroom defeat, she attempted to evade the judgment by filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
