Businesses within the premises of the POWA Plaza, Jos road, Lafia, Nasarawa State, have suffered heavy losses following a fire outbreak that ravaged the Plaza.

An eyewitness revealed to newsmen that the fire outbreak was caused by an electric spark in one of the shops around 1 am on Tuesday.
The eyewitness, also stated that the Nigeria Police Force suffered a major loss as most burnt properties in the plaza belong to the force.
The source explained that lots of properties were destroyed before the Nasarawa State Fire Service personnel arrived on the scene and intervened adding that the fire wasn’t quenched until about 7 am this morning.
The eye witness also disclosed that more than seven tailoring shops in the plaza were burnt down to ashes.
The eyewitness said: “The fire began around 1 am on Tuesday. It burnt properties worth millions of naira before the fire service people came.
“They still could not completely put out the fire until 7 am this morning when they sent some more firefighters to the place.
“More than seven shops were affected. A tailoring shop, a boutique, a solar shop, and other big businesses were burnt to ashes.

“I wonder how the business owners will survive after this huge loss that they have encountered. The government should see how to help them out of the situation.”
The POWA Plaza is reported to be beside the Office of the Area Commander of the Nigeria Police Force, Lafia, and opposite the 2023 campaign office of Governor Abdullahi Sule.
