Borno Army Base Attack: President Tinubu Issues Orders

The deadly attack launched by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on a Forward Operating Base (FOB) of the Nigeria Army, in Sabon Gida, Damboa, Borno State, which led to the death of six soldiers is still whipping up reactions from all corners of the world with the latest coming from Nigeria’s number one man, Bola Tinubu.

This huge slap on the country’s military posses a great security threat to Nigerians.

More so, it has left many families in mourning.

What if those that were killed were bread winners in their families?

These families would have been left not just heartbroken, but hopeless.

For President Tinubu, he shares in their pain.

In fact, the Nigerian leader took his time to console the Nigerian Army over the loss of those soldiers.

In a statement from his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President also consoled the families of the fallen soldiers.

Trust Tinubu, the Jagaban himself, he has promised that sacrifice in defending the nation would forever be honoured and remembered.

However, that was not all.

The President wants justice.

He has demanded a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances that led to the unfortunate incident and ensure that it served as a valuable lesson to prevent similar occurrences.

He commended the Armed Forces for their swift and decisive response, particularly the air component, in launching effective retaliatory strikes.

The Raids

The targeted air raids resulted in the significant neutralization of numerous terrorists and the destruction of their assets as they attempted to flee.

“This resolute action by the Army demonstrates the capability and readiness of our military to confront and defeat threats to our nation’s security. Their actions testify to our resolve to eradicate terrorism and banditry, paving the way for a future where peace and security prevail for all Nigerians.

“I extend heartfelt gratitude and sympathy to our military and security forces on behalf of a grateful nation.

“Your sacrifices and dedication do not go unnoticed, and we stand firmly behind you in this ongoing fight to eliminate these threats,” he said.

The President urged the military to proactively take the war to the camps of bandits and terrorists with particular focus on the Northwest, where these criminals continue to threaten the lives and homes of innocent villagers.

Furthermore, he appealed to Nigerians and the media to support the military’s efforts to restore peace and security in our beloved nation.
