Reality TV star, Mercy Eke, has publicly apologised after her social media handler labeled Big Brother Naija housemate, Onyeka, a “gold digger”.
The controversy began when a now-deleted tweet from Mercy Eke’s verified X account accused Onyeka of being involved with Ozee Mbadiwe
The tweet read: “Onyeka the Mbadiwe gold digger, sorry to burst your bubble, there’s no gold in the twins… #BBnaija”.
This post quickly sparked outrage among fans.
Fans flooded social media.
They dragged Mercy Eke for allowing such a remark to be posted from her account.
In response to the backlash, Mercy Eke issued an apology.
Also, she clarified that the tweet was made by her handler and did not reflect her own views.
However, Mercy Eke explained that she had moved on from anything related to Big Brother Naija.
In a lengthy statement shared on her social media, she wrote: “I can’t believe I’m waking up to this on my birthday.
“A handler that was supposed to post my birthday content and respond to well-wishers got involved in a BBNaija drama.
“For Christ’s sake, I’ve left everything Big Brother behind! Seeing such silly opinions being shared, especially about one of the housemates I actually like, is frustrating”.
