Since the fire outbreak at the popular Mandilas Building, Balogun market, many who experienced this fatal loss are yet to recover from it.
It was a Sunday, and the market Broad Street area of Lagos Island Local Government Area of Lagos State was not as busy as ti usually is.
The fire outbreak was confirmed in a post on Twitter (X) by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service on Sunday, January 21, 2024.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service made it known that the fire, which originated on the first floor of the building, escalated to the fourth floor.
Even though the cause of the fire is unknown, emergency fire responders swung into action to keep the situation under control.

It wrote: “Balogun Market Fire Outbreak
“Time of Call: 13:15hrs
“Scene of Incident: Mandilas Building, Broad Street, Lagos Island
Description: A warehouse in a 14-story building is on fire. The fire originated on the first ‘floor and reached the fourth floor.
“Supposed Cause: Cause yet to be determined
“Casualty: None”.
Netizens reacted sadly to the occurrence, as it’s not the first time the building is having a fire incident.
Many voiced their displeasure, wondering why it has been a recurring occurrence.
