Arsenal defender Myles Lewis-Skelly’s three-match ban has been overturned after the club successfully appealed against his red card in Saturday’s match at Wolves.
An independent regulatory commission upheld Arsenal’s claim of wrongful dismissal, according to the Football Association.
Lewis-Skelly, was given a straight red card by referee Michael Oliver for a foul on Matt Doherty, which was deemed serious foul play.
The incident occurred in the 43rd minute, just outside the Wolves box, as Doherty mounted a counter-attack.
Initially, the decision was upheld by video assistant referee Darren England. However, Arsenal’s appeal has now resulted in the ban being overturned.
The match ultimately ended in a 1-0 win for Arsenal, thanks to Riccardo Calafiori’s 74th-minute strike.
Wolves were also reduced to 10 men in the match, after Joao Gomes received his second yellow card in the 70th minute.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was visibly frustrated with the initial decision to send off Lewis-Skelly, stating that it was “so obvious” and that he was “absolutely fuming.”
Following the match, referees’ body PGMOL announced that police are investigating “threats and abuse” directed at referee Michael Oliver.
