Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has once again voiced his frustration with La Liga referees, highlighting what he believes were “pretty clear mistakes” in the officiating of the team’s last three matches – against Atletico Madrid, Espanyol, and Osasuna.
Ancelotti expressed his dissatisfaction, emphasizing that these errors were evident in those games.
February has been a highly frustrating month for Los Blancos, who have suffered two losses and a draw in La Liga, allowing Barcelona to overtake them after surrendering a seven-point lead at the top of the standings.
Real Madrid’s recent matches in Spain have been clouded by controversy.
The club has formally requested the release of the VAR room audios from their game against Espanyol.
In the match against Osasuna, several penalty calls, including fouls and a handball, were ignored by referee Monuera Montero.
Additionally, Jude Bellingham was shown a straight red card in the 39th minute after allegedly telling the referee to “f*ck off” in frustration.
Ancelotti did not shy away from blasting the quality of the officiating in LaLiga, stating that they have been deeply hit by the incorrect decision-making.
Ancelotti’s Opinion
“Nothing to say, I have already given my opinion on what has happened and is happening,” Ancelotti told reporters on Tuesday (h/t Football Espana).
“It’s quite surprising and I have nothing to add.
“We are not happy with what happened against Osasuna, Atletico… three games in which we were harmed and I don’t understand it.
“The statistics speak for themselves.
“In Europe there is less controversy and fewer interventions, it is done when necessary.
“In the Champions League the best referees from each country whistle and the quality is very high.
“I only comment on what I see, which is that in the last games they have made some pretty clear mistakes.”
