Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has been named Atalanta’s Player of the Month for May-June, according to the official website of the Europa League winners.
Lookman was the clear favorite for the award after his historic performance in the Europa League final, where he became the first African player to score a hat-trick in the final of a major UEFA competition.
On June 2, in a rescheduled game against Fiorentina, Lookman scored, making him the only player to have at least ten goals in the 2023-2024 Serie A season.
Named Player of the Match in the Europa League final, Lookman recorded six goals and three assists in May and June.
Overall, the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup winner with England finished the season with an impressive 27 goal involvements (17 goals, 10 assists), four more than in his debut season with Atalanta.
Lookman won the Player of the Month award, beating Gianluca Scamacca and Éderson.
On the international stage, he played in two World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and Benin but did not score in either game.
Lookman’s excellent club performances have not gone unnoticed, with a possible return to the Premier League or Bundesliga being discussed.
