Mr. Ekpenyong Iso’s suspension was announced in a joint statement by Ward 8 Chairman Kingsley Ekpe and Secretary Gilbert Bassey.
He was the commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Cross River State and his suspension was effected by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The commissioner was suspended by the Ward 8 Calabar municipality executives for alleged anti-party activities.
Also, he is being accused of corruption and working against the party.

His suspension is in line with Article 21 (D) of the APC constitution.
“Your suspension is predicated on the recommendations of the disciplinary and fact-finding committee set up to investigate the petition of misappropriation of party funds and anti-party activities leveled against you,” the APC says.
“Consequently, during the pendency of this suspension, which takes immediate effect, you are to stay away from all party activities,” the party adds.
The commissioner’s suspension would last for one year.
