The Vice President of Malawi, Saulos Chilima has been arrested on a 6-count fraud charge of $280,000.
Chilima was said to have accepted this money from a British businessman in exchange for awarding government contracts.
The Vice President has been stripped of his powers in June when the Anti-Corruption Bureau first accused him.

The Bureau had accused him and 83 other Malawian officials of allegedly having corrupt dealing with a British businessman, Zuneth Sattar.
Mr. Chilima has been arraigned before the court but has refused to comment on the charges made against him.
The businessman, Mr. Sattar was arrested in October 2021, in the UK and is currently out on bail.
He is charged with fraudulently obtaining contracts to supply goods and services by using connections with senior government officials in Malawi, which he denied.
