- Federal government promises adequate support for effective policing
The Honourable Minister in charge of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi has handed over newly acquired protective gears and medical kits to the Nigeria Police Force for onward distribution to officers and men engaged in various tactical operations nationwide.
The handing over of the protective gears and medical kits, took place at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, on Thursday.
The protective gadgets and medical kits comprising ten thousand six hundred and thirty-five (10,635) bulletproof vests, six thousand seven hundred and eight (6,708) ballistic helmets, and four thousand four hundred (4,400) safety boxes/First Aid Kits, were handed over to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba.
Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi said this is part of the Ministry’s effort at supporting the Nigeria Police Force in its bid to standardize the operational outlook of its personnel and also enhance the operations across the country
The Honourable Minister emphasized the commitment of the Federal Government to championing constructive interventions and ensuring adequate support directed at reforming and repositioning the Force for more effective policing service delivery through enhanced welfare arrangements, retooling of policing infrastructure, and the provision of operational equipment.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, fdc, while receiving the items appreciated the laudable efforts of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, and the Minister of Police Affairs towards continuous support for the Police reform project.
He promised to reciprocate the government’s efforts through judicious and effective use of the equipment, the IGP reiterated that the safety of police personnel on the field is an integral part of securing lives and property.
