According to the rapper in a petition filed In August 2021, the reason for changing his name was for personal reasons while the petition for the name change was signed by Judge Michelle Williams.
It would be recalled that Ye released an album with the same name in 2018 but it was used as a shortening of his stage name ‘Kanye’.
In an interview with radio host, Big Boy that same year, Ye explained the meaning of the song title.
“I believe ‘ye’ is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means you. So it’s I’m you, I’m us, it’s us,”
“It went from being Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, our everything.”
With the petition approved, the musician yields a middle or last name. It’s just Ye.
