Court remands man for allegedly stealing “Brazilian hair extensions”

A Grade I Area Court, Kubwa, on Thursday ordered that a 26-year-old man, Emmanuel Uka who allegedly stole “Brazilian hair extensions”, be remanded in a correctional facility.

The police charged Uka, who lives in Kagini, Abuja with criminal trespass, housebreaking and theft.

The Judge, Mr Muhammad Adamu, adjourned the case until Nov.4 for hearing.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Babajide Olanipekun told the court that Ms Folashade Abatta reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station in July 2019.

Olanipekun alleged that the defendant acted in a dubious manner and trespassed the complainant’s premises is Kubwa, Abuja and broke into her shop.

He further alleged that the defendant stole the complainant’s Brazilian hair extensions worth N270, 000.

The prosecution counsel said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 342, 346 and 288 of the Penal Code.

The defendant pleaded not guilty.

The defence counsel, Taiye Okoya, however, made a bail application for his client saying he was presumed innocent until proven guilty and urged the court to grant bail.

The prosecution counsel opposed the bail saying that the defendant may commit another offence if granted bail.

He said the defendant committed the alleged offence in 2019 and is facing a similar charge in another court.
