A 30-year-old man, Jacob Ayodele, is currently facing a two-count charge for stealing and illegal possession of items at an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun.
Ayodele, on Tuesday, pleaded not guilty for allegedly stealing laptops and electronics.
The prosecutor, Insp Emmanuel Abdullahi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 2 at 12 a.m. at Isale-Agbara Street, Ile-Ife.
Abdullahi said that the defendant stole two laptops, six speakers, one LG DVD player, a bag and one-floor Rug, the value of which were yet unknown.
He said the defendant could not give a satisfactory account of how he got the items when he was caught by the police.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 390(9) and 430 of the Criminal Law of Osun, 2002.

The Defence Counsel, Mr Ben Adirieje, urged the court to grant his client bail in liberal terms, promising that his client would not jump bail, but would provide reliable sureties.
The magistrate, Mrs Muhibah Olatunji, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum.
Olatunji ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should be a blood relation of the defendant.
She adjourned the case until May 19 for mention.
