Nigerian Comedian IGoSave Slams Internet Providers Over Unfair Charges

Nigerian stand-up-comedian, Otaghware Onodjayeke, popularly known as IGoSave, has called out internet providers in Nigeria for what he describes as blatant exploitation of citizens.

The comedian, who is currently in the United Kingdom, expressed outrage over the stark contrast in internet service quality and pricing between both countries.

Nigerian Comedian IGoSave Slams Internet Providers Over Unfair Charges

Taking to his social media platform, IGoSave recounted a baffling experience he had in the UK.

According to him, he attempted to purchase more data for his phone, only to be told by his service provider that he still had enough left from his previous subscription.

This, he claims, is a far cry from the situation in Nigeria, where even the most expensive data bundles seem to vanish within days.

‘Daylight Robbery

Drawing comparisons, IGoSave lamented how 20GB of data in the UK had lasted him for weeks, while in Nigeria, a 50GB monthly plan barely lasts three days.

Also, he called on the Nigerian government and regulatory agencies to launch a full-scale investigation into the operations of telecom companies.

This is the third time I’ve gone to my service provider in the UK to top up, and they turned me back, saying I still have data. I’m in shock because I bought just 20GB three weeks ago, and it’s still working—fast and reliable! But in Nigeria, 50GB won’t even last three days. How much is minimum wage in Nigeria that they are charging this much for unreliable data? It’s daylight robbery!

His remarks have since ignited conversations across social media.

Many Nigerians shared their frustrations over poor internet services and exorbitant charges.

Also, the debate has further fuelled calls for stricter regulation of telecom companies and better consumer protection policies to ensure Nigerians get value for their money.

The Need For Transparency

IGoSave’s outcry highlights long-standing grievances among Nigerians, regarding the exploitative pricing and poor service delivery of internet providers.
