Benin Republic’s women’s national team, the Amazons, has secured a spot in the final round of qualifiers for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Their opponents in this crucial stage will be Nigeria’s Super Falcons, one of the most dominant forces in African women’s football.
The Amazons booked their place in the final round by defeating Sierra Leone 5-2 on aggregate in the first round. They won the first leg 2-1 at home and then secured a convincing 3-1 victory in the away fixture.
This impressive performance has set them up for a thrilling encounter with the Super Falcons.
The two-legged qualifier between Benin Republic and Nigeria is scheduled to take place between October 20 and 28, 2025.
The first leg will be hosted by Benin, while the second leg will be played in Nigeria.
The victorious team will earn a coveted spot at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
