The Reds were only seconds away from securing victory in the last-ever Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, only for James Tarkowski to pop up with a 98th-minute equaliser to rescue a point for the Toffees.

At full-time, Abdoulaye Doucoure received a second yellow card for goading the Liverpool supporters, and Curtis Jones was also dismissed for lashing out at the midfielder.

Slot was shown a red for supposedly shaking referee Michael Oliver’s hand in a sarcastic and aggressive manner, with his assistant Sipke Hulshoff also sent off.

Due to the red cards, the pair were not allowed to conduct the press conference.

With Liverpool unable to fulfil their obligation to put Slot up for a post-match press conference, only opposite number David Moyes taking to the Goodison Park media podium.
