Despite scoring seven goals in 20 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea this season, Felix only started three Premier League matches, leaving him frustrated with his lack of game time.

This led to Milan securing his services on a season-long loan deal in the January transfer window, reportedly paying £5 million for his temporary move.

The 25-year-old wasted no time making an impact, scoring a debut goal in Milan’s 3-1 victory over Roma in Serie A.

Early performances suggest he is enjoying his football again, and his recent statements to the media hint that the Portuguese could be already thinking of making a permanent switch to Italian shores in the summer.

“For now, I’m on loan until June, we’ll see how it goes,” he told reporters.

“I’m liking everything: the club, the people, the infrastructure.

“My family and I have received a great welcome and I want to be in a place where I feel good.

“Things can change in football, but if there’s the chance to stay here, I’d like that.”

Felix also expressed his admiration for Brazilian icon Kaka, who is a revered figure in Milan having won Serie A, the Champions League, and the Ballon d’Or during his stint with the Rossoneri.

“My favourite player has always been Kaka, I’ve spoken about him in the past and met him in the United States where we took part in an interview together,” he said.

“He is my idol, but I can’t make comparisons between myself and him, I would also like to make history at AC Milan.”

Back in London, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca does not seem to regret Felix’s exit, despite the club’s ongoing struggles in attack.

Chelsea suffered a disappointing FA Cup exit against Brighton, managing just one goal – an own goal – despite Brighton conceding seven goals against Nottingham Forest the previous week.

“I don’t think we miss Joao,” Maresca stated.

“He is happy at AC Milan, and we are happy that he is happy there.”

Felix will now look to continue his strong start with Milan as they prepare for a crucial Champions League round of 16 play-off against Feyenoord on Wednesday.

If he maintains his impressive form, discussions about a permanent move could gain momentum before the next transfer window.
