David De Gea has sent out a message to former team-mate Lisandro Martinez after the Argentine suffered a serious knee injury.
Martinez was seen crying as he left the pitch on a stretcher in the second half of United’s 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace last weekend.
After conducting tests, the defender has been diagnosed with an anterior cruciate ligament tear, according to TyCSports, and will now go under the knife.
The injury is likely to keep the Argentine out of action for at least eight months.
As Martinez’s season ended on a tragic note, his former colleague and ex-United goalkeeper De Gea has sent out an inspiring message on social media.
The duo shared a dressing room for a season in the 2022/23 campaign before the Spaniard exited Old Trafford as a free agent.
Taking to X, the Spaniard shared some pictures of hte two players together and wrote: “As always you do things… Like a warrior.”
