Barcelona star Gavi was forced from the field after a nasty clash of heads with Alaves player Tomas Conechny.
With just over 10 minutes on the clock, Gavi and Conechny clashed heads, with the Alaves man coming off worse.
While the Argentine had to be stretchered off the field, the Barca star was able to walk freely and even wanted to continue playing.
However, manager Hansi Flick, some of Gavi’s team-mates and club doctors urged him to make way; something he eventually acquiesced to.
Going by how Gavi reacted, this is unlikely to be a serious injury and he may be back for Barcelona soon.
But if he is concussed, the 21-year-old needs time to rest and recover.
Incidentally, the Blaugrana are without the injured Marc Bernal, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Andreas Christensen, and Dani Olmo.
This comes a couple of days after the Spain international extended his stay at Barca until 2030.
The contract reportedly includes a €1 billion (£836m/$1bn) release clause.
