The Niger State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old farmer, Umar Mohammed, for allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl in Mariga Local Government Area of the state.
SP Wasiu Abiodun, the command Spokesperson disclosed this in a statement on Friday, January 31, 2025.
However, the PPRO said Mohammed, from Farar-Doka village, was arrested following a direct complaint at Bangi Division that he def!led the child on January 26, 2025 at about 8:30 pm.
In addition, he revealed that the six-year-old victim had been sent on an errand to a nearby shop but returned late and in tears.
Abiodun stated that Mohammed accosted the minor on her way back from the shop, took her to a nearby bush, and committed the crime.
The victim was taken to the General Hospital in Bangi for medical attention, while Mohammed was arrested and taken in for questioning.

“He confessed to the crime. He has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution,” the spokesperson added.
