The prestigious Headies Awards will return to Nigeria for its 17th edition.
Also, it is scheduled to take place on April 5, 2025, in Lagos.
This announcement was made by the Executive Producer, Mr. Ayo Animashaun, in a statement released on Monday, January 20.
According to Animashaun, “this year’s edition is packed with an extraordinary lineup of events, culminating in a week-long celebration of the industry’s growth and artistic ingenuity”.
The festivities will begin on March 29, 2025, with the Headies Stakeholders Brunch and the Nominees’ Party.
This leads up to the grand awards ceremony on April 5.
Also, this year, the Academy is introducing an exciting addition: The Headies Festival.
The festival will showcase the diversity of Nigerian music, entertainment, and culture, adding a new dimension to the celebrations.
Details about the nomination list, host, and venue for the ceremony are yet to be announced.
Also, it remains unclear whether the Headies Academy will retain the previous nomination window of April 1, 2023, to July 31, 2024.
The Headies Awards, which debuted in 2006, have become one of the most coveted honours in the Nigerian music industry.
The return of the ceremony to Lagos follows the 16th edition, which was held in Atlanta, USA .
Also, it is the second consecutive year the event took place outside Nigeria.

Animashaun previously cited high planning costs as the reason for temporarily relocating the awards.
However, this year’s return to Lagos signals a renewed commitment to celebrating Nigerian talents on home soil.
