The dispute surrounding TikTok arises from national security concerns due to its ownership by the Chinese company ByteDance.

Earlier this year, Congress passed legislation requiring TikTok to secure a non-Chinese owner to address these issues.

With the deadline fast approaching, TikTok’s future in the US remains uncertain.

However, US Representative Mike Waltzn said during an interview that the administration is exploring options to prevent TikTok’s shutdown.

Waltz highlighted a provision in the legislation that permits a 90-day extension if “significant progress” is made towards divestiture.

“We will implement measures to ensure TikTok does not go dark,” Waltz said.

He added: “This effectively gives President Trump additional time to secure a resolution that allows TikTok to continue operating while addressing security concerns.”
