His primary objective will be to revitalize Nigeria’s quest for success in the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Chelle’s journey with the Super Eagles started on Tuesday, January 7.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) appointed him as the head coach of the team.
Reports from SCORENigeria indicate that the former Mali national team head coach has taken a pay cut compared to his previous position at Algerian club MC Oran.
The 47-year-old coach, who recently stepped down from his role at MC Oran, is expected to arrive in Abuja on Sunday to finalize a two-year contract with the Super Eagles.

Currently, the Super Eagles find themselves in fifth place in Group C, having secured just three points from four matches.
Looking ahead, the team will face Amavubi of Rwanda and the Warriors of Zimbabwe when the qualifiers resume in March.
Many people are eager to know what would have prompted him to dump his previous position for his new role.
As reported by BSNSports.com.ng, Coach Eric Chelle will earn a monthly salary of $55,000.
That is equivalent to approximately ₦84.9 million.
Chelle will be accompanied by two assistants, each earning $5,000 per month.
The new coach’s immediate responsibilities include overseeing the Super Eagles B team as they prepare for the 2025 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) set to take place in Morocco starting February 1, 2025.
