Tinubu Approves ₦95B For Kano Dam, Road Projects

Every day, the rising cost of food items in Nigeria highlights the need for that nation to boost its agricultural exploits. Now, the government also knows that irrigation farming will give this much needed boost.

To achieve this, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved ₦95 billion for the rehabilitation of Kano dam and the construction of the State Eastern Bypass Road.

This project aims to boost irrigation farming, enhance connectivity, and foster economic growth in the region.

The rehabilitation of over 16 dams will improve agricultural productivity, while the bypass road will connect the southern region to the city.

The government says the Kano Dam initiative demonstrates the administration’s commitment to Kano’s development.

This ambitious project aims to connect the southern region to the city, fostering economic growth and development.

Optimised For Irrigation

At the heart of this initiative is the rehabilitation of Kano’s dams, including the Challawa Gorge Dam and Tiga Dam.

A technical committee has been inaugurated to evaluate the dams, ensuring they are optimised for irrigation and agricultural productivity.

This effort aligns with the Hon. Minister Joseph Utsev’s goal to maximise these facilities in Kano.

The appropriation of ₦95 billion, secured by Senator Kawu Sumaila, demonstrates the administration’s commitment to Kano’s development.
