Federal Government Declares Christmas, New Year Holidays

The Federal Government has declared December 25-26, 2024, and January 1, 2025, as public holidays for Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year Day.

This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

Nigerians have welcomed the news on the days of holiday, expressing excitement and gratitude on social media.

The holidays are expected to bring joy and relief to citizens.

However, the government has urged citizens to use the festive season to reflect on values of love, peace, and unity.

The public holidays would enable Nigerians to commemorate Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.

In a statement released on Monday, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, declared December 25 and 26, 2024, as well as January 1, 2025, as public holidays.

Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, made the announcement on behalf of the Federal Government, extending warm greetings to all Nigerians.

He urged citizens to use the festive period to reflect on the values of love, peace, and unity.

Also, he emphasised the importance of fostering harmony and strengthening bonds across families and communities.

The Minister also called on Nigerians to remain committed to the peace, unity, and progress of the nation, ensuring national development.

Furthermore, he assured citizens of the Federal Government’s continued commitment to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity across the nation.

In his statement, Dr. Tunji-Ojo expressed confidence in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu’s Administration.
