Rumours recently circulated, claiming that the Old Port Harcourt Refinery had shut down just two months after being re-streamed.

This news spread quickly, causing confusion and concern among the public, particularly given the refinery’s importance to Nigeria’s oil production.

In response, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited swiftly addressed the issue.

The company’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi O. Soneye, clarified in an official statement that the refinery was fully operational.

Former Group Managing Directors of NNPC had conducted a recent inspection and confirmed that the facility was running smoothly.

Despite the misleading reports, the NNPC assured the public that these claims were entirely false.

In fact, preparations for the day’s loading operation were already in progress, further proving the refinery’s active status.

Moreover, the NNPC urged Nigerians to disregard the false reports, attributing them to individuals trying to create artificial scarcity for personal gain.

The company emphasized that the Port Harcourt Refinery remained a crucial part of the nation’s energy sector.

Ultimately, the NNPC’s prompt response cleared up any doubts.

The refinery continued to operate, serving its vital role in Nigeria’s oil industry, and the public could once again feel confident in its ongoing contribution.
