Veteran Nigerian musician Eldee The Don has shared a remarkable piece of history about his father.
He claims that he was the first person to connect Nigeria to the internet.
Also, Eldee revealed that his father played a pivotal role in advancing technology in the country.
According to him, his father established Lagos’ first cyber cafe and provided internet services to prominent corporations and government agencies.
Speaking on the Adesope Live show, Eldee reflected on his father’s groundbreaking contributions to Nigeria’s digital development.
He said: “Thankfully, I had a dad who was in technology. My dad was a pioneer in his own field as well.
“That man [my dad] was the first person to connect Nigeria to the internet. This is something people argue about because they don’t know his name. He wasn’t the type of person who sought public recognition.”
Eldee elaborated on the extent of his father’s influence.
“The very first cyber cafe in Lagos was set up by my dad. The very first connections for Mobil, CBN, and government agencies—my dad was responsible for all of that.”
This early exposure to cutting-edge technology profoundly shaped Eldee’s career.
With access to resources that were rare at the time, Eldee explained that his father’s work enabled him to set up a home music studio, where he honed his craft and produced the music that later defined his career.
