Nigerian music legend King Sunny Ade (KSA) has finally addressed the long-standing rumors of a romantic relationship with the late iconic singer Onyeka Onwenu (MON).
During a recent condolence visit to Onwenu’s family, KSA clarified the speculations that have surrounded their relationship for years.
KSA explained that the rumours were part of a promotional strategy for their hit song “Wait for Me.”
He revealed, “That was a gimmick we did. It was for the music. People used to think she was my girlfriend, but we never confirmed or denied it.”
KSA also paid tribute to Onwenu, describing her as an extraordinary woman who provided invaluable advice and support throughout their professional relationship.
“She was someone who would sit down with you and offer excellent advice,” he fondly recalled.
