Afrobeats star Ahmed Ololade, better known as Asake, has revealed that Grammy-winning artist Wizkid has been a major influence on his musical journey.
Asake openly shared that Wizkid’s work has significantly shaped his career.
Asake made this revelation while celebrating their collaboration on his newly released third studio album, ‘Lungu Boy.’
The album features the highly anticipated track ‘MMS,’ where the two artists come together in a seamless blend of their unique sounds.
In a reflective note accompanying ‘MMS’ on digital streaming platforms, Asake expressed how much he had longed for the chance to work with Wizkid.
He wrote: “Wizkid has always been a major source of inspiration for me.
Coming up as a young artist in Lagos, I’ve been waiting for the perfect song to collaborate on with him, and when the opportunity finally presented itself, it was an obvious choice.”
Expanding on the meaning behind the song’s title, Asake explained: “‘MMS’ stands for ‘Mr Money Sound,’ which is a reflection of my journey in music, from the hustle in the streets of Lagos to the heights of collaborating with one of my idols.”
This collaboration marks a significant moment in Asake’s career.
