Community source, Adaji, reported that the family began vomiting after consuming the pap and that they were taken to a private clinic.

A resident mentioned that the widow and her three children were unconscious when they arrived at the hospital for treatment.

Dr. Oyaje Sule of Dr. Gana Clinic confirmed that he admitted the patients, with three arriving unconscious but now revived.

Dr. Sule stated that the family accidentally used chemical-treated guinea corn remnants for making pap, leading to their poisoning.

He explained that after consuming the pap, the family experienced severe symptoms, including vomiting and unconsciousness, before reaching his clinic.

Dr Sule said: “It is true they brought a woman who I have known in the community, alongside her children and grandchildren numbering seven to my clinic this morning.

“The woman is a widow with her three children and three grandchildren, their ages range from three to 30 years aside from their grandmother who is elderly.

“As at the time they were brought, the woman and two others were unconscious but thank God they have been revived.

“I was told that the family mixed chemicals with guinea corn intended for planting. After planting the corn, they brought the remaining home, washed it, and ground it to make pap.”

“After they ate the pap this morning, they started vomiting, and some became unconscious before we rushed them to my clinic”.
