Temmie Ovwasa, the singer, recently shared her university experience involving a protest she organized against sexual assault at her institution.

In a post on X, she recounted, “When I was in university, I organized a protest with a friend against rape in the school.”

“The VC called the both of us into his office and showed us our student portals. He didn’t have to say much; we knew it was a threat! This was in 2014!”

She emphasized, “Nigerian universities are not safe for girls!”

Her comments come amidst the #endSAcultureinCMUL movement gaining traction on X.

On Sunday, June 30th, 2024, students of the College of Medicine University of Lagos (CMUL) took to social media to share distressing accounts of sexual assault prevalent within the institution.

The outcry followed controversy over the punishment given to a male medical student accused of repeated sexual assault.
