Gains From Conoil, BUA, Dangote Stocks Lift NGX To Reach ₦50trn

The price appreciation of stocks like Dangote Cement, BUA Cement, Conoil, and Okomu Oil contributed significantly to lifting the market as it maintained its form.

Both the market capitalisation and the All-share index appreciated significantly at the end of the day’s trade.

NGX Equity Market Gains ₦1trn To Reach ₦50trn

The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) maintained its positive form after ending Thursday’s trade with gains.

Investors in the equities market gained ₦1.006 trillion as a result of price appreciation in large and medium-capitalised stocks.

Some of the stocks that contributed to the gains in the equities market are Dangote Cement, BUA Cement, MRS Oil Nigeria, Conoil, and Okomu Oil.

The NGX All-Share Index (ASI) gained 1,833.72 basis points, (2.04%) to close at 91,896.97 bps, while the NGX market capitalisation rose by ₦1.006 trillion to close at ₦50.290 trillion.

Gainers & Losers

Conoil, Eterna, John Holt, NEM Insurance, and Unity Bank emerged highest price gainers of 10% each to close at ₦112.20, ₦20.90, ₦2.53, ₦8.25, and ₦3.30 per share respectively.

PZ Cussons Nigeria and May & Baker Nigeria followed with a gain of 9.96% each to close at ₦39.20 and ₦7.51 respectively, while McNichols advanced by 9.94% to close at ₦1.77, per share.

On the other hand, Ikeja Hotel led others on the losers’ chart with 9.79% to close at ₦8.11, per share.

Royal Exchange followed with a decline of 9.78% to close at 83 kobo, while Mutual Benefits Assurance shed 9.57% to close at 85 kobo, per share.

Linkage Assurance lost 9.40% to close at ₦1.35, while Japaul Gold and Ventures depreciated by 9.33% to close at ₦2.43, per share.

The total volume traded declined by 12.2% to 1.14 billion units, valued at ₦19.29 billion, and exchanged in 17,804 deals.

Transactions in the shares of Transnational Corporation (Transcorp) led the activity with 156.621 million shares worth ₦2.961 billion.

Universal Insurance followed with 114.549 million shares valued at ₦55.577 million, while Veritas Kapital Assurance traded 69.413 million shares valued at ₦47.326 million.

Jaiz Bank traded 65.865 million shares worth ₦243.888 million, while Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO) traded 63.443 million shares worth N2.884 billion.
