Over the weekend, Beyoncé’s concert film, “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé,” dominated the box office, opening in first place with $21 million in North American ticket sales.
Beyoncé served as the writer, director, and producer of “Renaissance,” which focuses on the tour for her Grammy-winning album.
The film premiered in 2,539 theaters in the U.S. and Canada, along with 94 international territories, earning $6.4 million from 2,621 theaters abroad.
This concert movie is the second title distributed by the mega-cinema circuit AMC, known for hosting blockbusters like “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.”
Remarkably, more than 70 percent of those purchasing tickets for “Renaissance” in the U.S. were female.
Additionally, nearly 70 percent of all ticket buyers were between the ages of 18 and 34, with 43 percent falling within the 25 to 34 age range.
