Since the autopsy on the body of late Mohbad, Nigerians have stayed expectant of the grand burial, but that is not happening. Now police say the musician’s father had the final say.
Since the autopsy, there have been several controversies, with many wondering why there is a delay in the reburial of the late Mohbad’s remains.
According to the Lagos State Police, Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, has been told that he could withdraw the body of the late singer, llerioluwa Aloba.
He is yet to show up to apply for it.
Earlier on Tuesday, November 21, the mother of the singer released a video, saying that the body of the singer had been released to the father.
According to her, he has refused to give approval for the burial.
Mohbad’s Father Yet To Apply
According to reports, the police have concluded autopsy tests on the late singer and informed the father afterwards to come and collect his body.
However, he needs to apply for it.
A police source who spoke to LIB on condition of anonymity said the body was in the morgue.
“It has not been released. It wouldn’t be released to you, and you wouldn’t come and pick it up.
“The hospital wouldn’t allow it. Only the father can apply for the release of the corpse; only the father and the police have said that any day he applies, he will get it immediately.
“We have told them, anytime they want it, I’ll just write an application, but the father has refused to do that.
The DNA Saga
“Technically, it is the father that is holding back. The father has said he was not taking it yet until they do DNA, and that is their personal family problem.
“If the man writes today, of course it will be released, and he must carry the corpse. You can’t write it down and keep it there. For who?”
The singer, who passed away on September 12, was buried the next day, September 13.
Following the controversy surrounding his demise, an autopsy was demanded by Nigerians, and his body was exhumed on September 21.
