Reports of the takeover of power by the military in Gabon, days after the conduct of its 2023 presidential election has set the internet ablaze, in fact, it is the most talked about issue at the moment.
Earlier, reports that the Gabonese President, Ali Bongo, had been deposed by the military, days after winning the presidential election had emerged.
The Coup
According to the BBC, soldiers were said to have appeared on Gabonese national television in Gabon to announce that they had taken power.
Also, the coup plotters announced the annulment of Saturday’s election and the dissolution of the democratic government in Gabon.

Bongo, who came to power after the death of his father in 2009, won a third term in an election which opposition argued was heavily disputed.
