Is there something that the leader of the Niger junta, General Abdourahmane Tchiani, knows that Nigerians do not know?
The confidence in his statement depicts an awareness that could only come from knowledge that is specific.
He is claiming that the military take-over in Niger saved Nigeria of an imminent disaster. What is this disaster?
Tchiani allegedly said this during a meeting with the junta on Saturday in Niamey, the capital of Niger.
This is according to Sheikh Bala Lau, the head of Jam’atul Izalatu Bida Waikamatu Sunnah.
Tchiani allegedly stated that the coup was well-intentioned, adding that “they struck to starve off an imminent threat that would have affected not only the Niger Republic but also Nigeria.” Sheikh Lau reportedly corroborated this report.
Given that the statement did not appear to have gone into details, it is unclear what the junta head intended.
His assertion, nevertheless, came after the Defence Headquarters said that some individuals were pushing the Nigerian military to seize control.
There are plans from several sources to incite members of the Nigerian Armed Forces to topple the current democratic government led by President Tinubu, according to Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information.

He says the military will continue to carry out its constitutional obligations rather than attempting to overthrow the current democratic government.
According to him, Nigeria’s armed forces will not be diverted.
“The reports calling on the military to interfere in our democracy is highly unpatriotic, wicked, and an attempt to distract the Armed Forces of Nigeria from performing its constitutional responsibilities,” the senior military official said.
