Yamal confirmed earlier reports that his injury was not serious and that, despite withdrawing from the Spain squad with an injury, he will not be out for a considerable period.

The young winger had been seen limping after Spain’s victory over Denmark and there were fears he could be out with a serious injury – fears which have subsequently subsided.

Yamal told La Chiringuito: “Yes, I’m feeling better now.

“Let’s recover and return as soon as possible.”

The Spanish Football Federation confirmed that Yamal had undergone an MRI scan on the injury and that there was no major damage.

The doctors confirmed that the youngster was suffering with an overload and would need to rest.

Following the scan and a request from Barcelona for their superstar to withdraw, Yamal returned to the Catalan club.
