While La Roja triumphed over the Dutch in a dramatic penalty shootout that went to sudden death, Yamal’s surprising miss sparked a playful yet tough response from Barcelona and national team-mate Pedri.
His reaction highlighted the strong camaraderie within the Catalan squad and reflected the friendly atmosphere fostered by coach Luis de la Fuente, who is on course to guide the nation to a second international trophy in a year.
Speaking to DAZN following Spain’s penalty shoot-out victory, Pedri gave his thoughts on Yamal’s missed spot-kick (h/t Football Espana): “I told Lamine what a sh*t penalty he took.
“He’s a player who learns from these things; the pressure doesn’t get to him. You have to take it to be able to miss it.”
