Nollywood actress, Biola Adebayo, has spoken out on why she chose to publicly disclose her separation from her husband, Oluseyi, amid ongoing backlash over the timing of her announcement.
The actress made headlines last week after she shared a birthday post for her now estranged husband, in which she confirmed their separation
The revelation sparked heated reactions on social media.
Many accused her of trying to set Oluseyi up for criticism on his special day.

Biola Adebayo clarified that the decision to go public with the breakup was made to control the narrative and protect her peace of mind.
“Please, I’m human too,” she said.
“The reason I spoke about my marriage was simply because I didn’t want anyone else telling my story in a way that would hurt me. That’s why I took the step to speak for myself.”
Biola added that contrary to public assumptions, her estranged husband was aware of her intention to post about the separation.
“I told my husband before I shared the post. He knew. I just didn’t want people asking why I wasn’t posting him or spreading all sorts of rumours. Unfortunately, even after taking that step, it was still used against me,” she said.
In 2023, the actress also revealed that she and her husband welcomed their son through a surrogate mother
