For Kazeem Adeoti, the journey to marrying Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe didn’t happen overnight. It started with respect, grew through shared experiences, and was sealed according to him by divine will.
In an interview on Oyinmomo TV, the popular Nigerian movie marketer and CEO of IbakaTV opened up about what drew him to Mercy, long before love was ever part of the conversation.
“I’ve known Mercy Aigbe for a long time,” he began. “Even before I met her in person, I already knew she was an actress.”
Back in the early days of his career in the film industry, Adeoti worked with many people including Mercy. But something about her stood out.
“What I love and admire most about her is that she’s truthful and straightforward,” he said.
One particular moment in 2011 stayed with him. They were working on a movie titled Hajia Jemila, and Adeoti had paid Mercy for her role.
He expected the usual response he got from other actors complaints that the money wasn’t enough. But Mercy surprised him.
“She actually came back and said some money was still remaining. I was shocked. That’s not something you hear every day. She’s a woman who still stays true to herself.”
Years later, that honesty became one of the reasons their paths came together as a couple. “When God has said that we will become a couple, it happened,” Adeoti said with quiet confidence. “And to the glory of God, He is blessing us.”
But Mercy hasn’t just played a role in his personal life she’s also influenced his professional decisions. As an experienced actress in the same industry, her opinions carry weight.
“She knows a lot about what we do. I usually ask to hear her ideas on several things,” he shared.
“She has a busy schedule, so she only interferes when I ask. But when she gives her opinion, it’s always honest and helpful.”
Their relationship first made headlines in January 2022, when Mercy revealed Adeoti as her husband. The announcement stirred a lot of reactions online and sparked controversy.
But despite the noise, they moved forward. In 2023, Mercy embraced a new chapter in her faith by converting to Islam and adopting the name Meenah.
