You see, a Kwara State lawmaker is advocating for Agricultural Science to become a mandatory subject in schools.

The lawmaker does not only want that course added to the curriculum, but he aims to equip students with practical skills and career opportunities in farming.

In Kwara State, Hon. Ganiyu Salau wants to bring agriculture back into the spotlight.

The lawmaker recently proposed making Agricultural Science a mandatory subject for all primary and secondary schools in the state.

His aim is clear: To equip students with practical skills and knowledge about a key sector in Nigeria’s economy.

Salau believes that teaching the basics of farming will help students become more self-sufficient and adopt healthier lifestyles.

Also, he believes that learning how farmers produce food can foster respect for farming and encourage better eating habits.

Salau, who represents the Omupo constituency, linked the lack of agricultural education to rising unemployment.

Therefore, He urged schools to prepare more young people for careers in farming to help address the issue.
