Examinations are important in education, influencing students’ futures significantly and the examination body in West Africa is bracing up for the now.
The upcoming Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE ) shows how technology is changing assessments and making them more accessible for everyone.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) announced that the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates will take place from Friday, October 25, to Friday, December 20, 2024.
In a statement released on Tuesday, WAEC explained that the examination would use a hybrid delivery mode.
They stated: “The examination will adopt the hybrid mode of delivering the examination”.
Additionally, they noted that the registration period had been extended until Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

The statement detailed that the examination would feature objective or multiple-choice questions presented on-screen.
Also, candidates must respond on the screen. For essay and practical questions, these will also be displayed on-screen.
However, candidates will need to use provided answer booklets for their responses.
Furthermore, candidates have the option to use the Paper and Pen mode for the entire examination.
On this note, WAEC wishes to inform all intending candidates that the registration period has been extended to Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

The examination body said: “The Council wishes to inform all intending candidates that the registration period has been extended”.
Registration Option
In addition, WAEC revealed that a “Walk-in Candidate” option would be available.
This option allows candidates to register 24 hours before the specific paper they wish to take.
The final timetable for the examination can be downloaded from the WAEC Nigeria website.
WAEC also encouraged all intending and registered candidates to utilise the numerous learning resources provided by the Council.
“All intending, as well as registered, candidates are advised to take advantage of the numerous learning resources provided by the Council, the examination body highlighted”
These resources include signing up for the WAEC e-Study platform, purchasing the WAEC Past Questions and Answers books, and joining other candidates for interaction on the WAECKonnect platform.
