No fewer than eight policemen have been confirmed dead in a robbery at First Bank, Isanlu, a community in Kogi State on Thursday.

It was gathered that the robbery gang about 18 in number, drove in a car and bus.

Some civilians were also been seen dead in the attack. The robbery went on unstopped for at least two hours, according to eyewitness accounts.

According to the Spokesperson for the Kogi State Police Command, William Aya, investigation into the development has already begun.

William also confirmed the robbery and the attack on the police station. He said he is indefinite about the casualty figure.

“The commissioner of police, Mr Ede Ayuba, has dispatched the deputy commissioner of police in charge of the operation, to Isanlu to ascertain the true situation,” he said.

He promised to speak with the media “as soon as details are available”. First Bank is the only bank in the community in Yagba East Local government area of the state.
