It was a regular Friday afternoon until it wasn’t. Around 4pm on Friday, June 6, 2025, Nigerian singer and songwriter Darey Art Alade and his wife had a terrifying experience when their car suddenly caught fire on Lagos’ 3rd Mainland Bridge.
The fire quickly consumed the vehicle, reducing it to ashes. Thankfully, no lives were lost.
The couple shared that their driver managed to escape the flames unharmed, and they remain deeply grateful for that.
Darey’s wife took to social media to reflect on the incident, sharing how the experience has shifted their perspective. “It was a shocking and painful experience,” she wrote.
“But we’re incredibly grateful that the driver made it out safely. No lives were lost, and that’s what truly matters.”
In a heartfelt message, she reminded others that while material things can be replaced, life cannot. “Moments like this remind us how quickly things can change and how unimportant material things become in the face of life itself.”
They made it clear that the post wasn’t for sympathy but to encourage anyone going through a sudden loss.
“We can rebuild. We can begin again and find the strength to keep going. One breath, one prayer, one step at a time.”
The couple also expressed thanks to everyone who stopped to help during the emergency and gave all the glory to God, saying,
“We give thanks in all things. THANK YOU JESUS!!!”
